Brug van die esels | General Fiction
Diamonds are small stones, sacred, with a primeval light contained in them …
At university Araminta Rossouw delves into the history of the Afrikaner nation, hoping to find herself, but she discovers a crack that runs through everything and of which no-one ever told her. A crack that grows ever larger, affecting everything and everyone.
Now she sees no choice: she will have to follow this crack herself, since the commission she earns as estate agent still falls far short of affording the wings with which to fly away. But diamonds offer a quick escape route. Dangerous, but irresistible.
So begins a game with these fascinating, shining pebbles that dumps her in a crisis which even with her careful calculations she was not able to foresee.
And when all seems lost, attorney Koos Malherbe enters her life. He who has seen enough to know that attempting to build a bridge over the truth serves no purpose.
