Nonfiction submission

Submission Criteria

Aspiring authors may submit nonfiction proposals (note: poetry, novels and drama must be submitted to the fiction department) for consideration but those that do not meet the following guidelines will be rejected. You need to include:

1. Contact details and biographical information about yourself in 400 words or less.
2. A short synopsis of the manuscript in 400 words or less.
3. A short description of the intended market for the manuscript of 400 words or less.
4. An outline of the manuscript or a table of contents.
5. At least one chapter.

We prefer that you email us, while hard-copy submissions should be printed on white A4 paper. Please make an effort to write in clear, concise language and check spelling and grammar. We do not return submissions so do not send sole original copies of manuscripts.

We receive many manuscript so please allow three to six month for us to contact you. If the manuscript has potential, an editor may ask for more chapters or information before deciding if we want to publish it.

Electronic nonfiction submissions should be mailed to Abdeah.Davis@nb.co.za.

Submissions can be sent to:
